Guardians Of The Galaxy Movie Director James Gunn Weighs In On Edgar Wright Ant-Man Exit: ‘They Don’t Make Each Other Happy’

Marvel and Edgar Wright revealed earlier this week that they are no longer working on the Ant-Man movie together due to creative differences. Guardians of the Galaxy movie director James Gunn voiced out his opinion about the news on his Facebook page.

"Sometimes you have friends in a relationship. You love each of them dearly as individuals and think they're amazing people. When they talk to you about their troubles, you do everything you can to support them, to keep them together, because if you love them both so much doesn't it make sense they should love each other?

"But little by little you realize, at heart, they aren't meant to be together - not because there's anything wrong with either of them, but they just don't have personalities that mesh in a comfortable way.

"They don't make each other happy. Although it's sad to see them split, when they do, you're surprisingly relieved, and excited to see where their lives take them next.

"It's easy to try to make one party "right" and another party "wrong" when a breakup happens, but it often isn't that simple. Or perhaps it's even more simple than that - not everyone belongs in a relationship together. It doesn't mean they're not wonderful people.

"And that's true of both Edgar Wright and Marvel. One of them isn't a person, but I think you get what I mean."

Guardians of the Galaxy movie director's statement came after his fellow Marvel director Joss Whedon of The Avengers Age of Ultron tweeted a photo of himself holding up a Cornetto.

In other Guardians of the Galaxy movie news, it has been reported that the space themed hero movie will eventually become a trilogy

"This August 1st, we're looking forward to introducing the world to more fantastic Marvel storytelling," Iger stated, "with a great cast of new characters in 'Guardians of the Galaxy', which we screened last week and we believe it has strong franchise potential."

Disney's chairman added that the recent screening of the film was a rather huge success and it will certainly add to the studio's box office hit movies including "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Thor: The Dark World."

"Guardians Of The Galaxy" will definitely bring Marvel into an entirely new realm as it is focused on the different galaxies from space unlike previous Marvel superhero films.

"That's a whole other Marvel realm or universe in terms of where it takes place," Iger explained, "the characters that populate it and the stories that you can tell for those characters. So, I think, I'm not going to predict that we've got another Avengers on our hands, but that's certainly the goal."

While Guardians of the Galaxy movie has concluded its production the entire cast and crew together with director James Gunn is now working on improving the finished product.

"They're cutting it together and loving everything that they see," Pratt said. "They're being very careful about what they release and very smart about getting people excited without giving away what the movie's about and not giving away the best jokes or story. I think people are very fired up to see it, and don't know what to expect."

"That's the best way to see a movie," he continued. "If I'm really excited to see something, and I have no idea what I'm about to see, I love that. I think that can be a problem you get when you're dealing with [franchises where moviegoers] want to know everything about it."
