American Horror Story Season 4 Freak Show Character Most Challenging To Date For Sarah Paulson: 'I'm Nervous For Sarah,' Says Ryan Murphy

As "American Horror Story: Freak Show" prepares for filming, one role that has everyone worried is Sarah Paulson's season 4 character.

"Oh Boy, it's not going to disappoint!" said Paulson during an interview with Gold Derby.

"I know lots ... I do know a lot of things ... I really think people are not going to be disappointed. And, it's going to be very different than last year ... in all the best ways."

Reportedly, "American Horror Story" season 4 "Freak Show" will push Sarah Paulson in more way than before. She will be playing one of the freak show performers, and has learned a new skill and undergone "physical rigorous" to get into the character.

According to creator Ryan Murphy, Paulson's role is the "most challenging character I've ever created. I'm nervous for Sarah."

But for Paulson, it will be difficult to beat the difficulty of portraying Lana Winters in "American Horror Story: Asylum."

"It was twofold: One, when I had to simulate performing an abortion on myself, and two, playing a 75-year-old woman. That was very hard. And it was very important to me to kind of hold on to who the character of Lana Winters was as an older person, not just go into a kind of caricature. Also, I had the crazy makeup on that was terrifying, and I sent the photograph to my mother, and I was like: 'I guess you'll never see this. This is me at 75!'"

"American Horror Story" season 4 "Freak Show" will have Sarah Paulson alongside Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Michale Chiklis, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Denis O'Hare, Gabrouey Sidibe, and Jamie Brewer.
