Cosart (4-4, 4.18 ERA), since giving up seven runs in one-third of an inning April 18 at Oakland, he is 3-2 with a 2.79 ERA in seven starts. He's still trying to cut down on walks, though, averaging 4.5 per nine innings this season.

"I think it's definitely something that he's worked on," Astros manager Bo Porter said of Cosart's high walk rate. "I don't think it's something that he needs to press about. I think it's more about fastball command than anything. I believe that as time goes on and he continues to mature as a pitcher that his walks are going to go down."

Richards (4-2, 3.65 ERA) had a great start to the 2014 season. But it hit a major speed bump Friday, when the 26-year-old couldn't even get out of the first inning against the A's. Richards faced 10 batters and eight of them reached, giving up a grand slam and a bases-loaded walk, according to MLB.com.

"It's embarrassing. I didn't show up for us tonight, and I didn't give us a chance to win, and I put us in a hole early," Richards said after the start. "It's just like anything else in this game. It's a learning experience. I'm going to stay positive. I've had a [heck] of a year so far, and I can't let one outing ruin my progress."
