Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones, two of the world's greatest living actors, are appearing together in one of the greatest American plays, the Pulitzer Prize winning "Driving Miss Daisy."

Angela Lansbury is a five-time Tony Award and three-time Academy Award nominee. James Earl Jones is a two-time Tony Award winner and an Oscar winner. The acting pair currently star in Alfred Uhry's play Driving Miss Daisy.

Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones' recent production of Driving Miss Daisy hit movie screens across the yesterday, June 4.

In the 2010 Broadway production of "Driving Miss Daisy" James Earl Jones played Hoke Colburn, the patient and understanding black chauffeur who was played by Morgan Freeman in the movie version. Angela Lansbury plays his white employer, Miss Daisy Wertham, who was played by Jessica Tandy in the film. The pair drive Georgia during the civil rights-era. The production also stars four time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines.

"Driving Miss Daisy" was filmed during the play's Australian tour. This was after the play sold out on Broadway and London's West End.

In the original Broadway production, Vanessa Redgrave played Daisy opposite Jones.

Driving Miss Daisy started in an Off-Broadway production in 1987. Since then the play has been performed thousands of times. This is the first time people who couldn't see it on Broadway will be able to see it captured on film in movie theaters near them.

The playwright Alfred Uhry told Stagecast magazine, "Every playwright dreams of having a perfect rendition of his play last forever. I am blessed to have it happen for me with this production of Driving Miss Daisy."

Driving Miss Daisy was directed by the award-winning David Esbjornson. It was filmed in Australia at Melbourne's Comedy Theatre by film-producers, Richard Moore and Jill Bilcock.
