George RR Martin Talks 'Game Of Thrones' Movie As Emilia Clarke Series Beats 'The Sopranos' As Most Viewed HBO Program

As "Game of Thrones" continues to dominate the television medium, perhaps it will become a movie in the future.

Recently, "Game of Thrones" surpassed former HBO series "The Sopranos" as the most viewed program on the cable channel, at 18.4 million viewers (including repeats and HBO Go).

According to Forbes, in addition to the possibility of a "Game of Thrones" movie, it could be doable to air the series in theaters.

“They build up this huge fan base and there’s nowhere for the fan base to go,” said Cinemark CEO Tim Warner. “‘Game of Thrones’ on the big screen would be so exciting. It’s not that you can’t go to the bar and watch this stuff, but you can’t have that premium experience.”

The other big idea, according to The Independent, is to make a "Game of Thrones" movie as a way to end the series.

“I think it would be great but I’ve been skeptical about it because I’ve heard of a number of other shows that were (lined-up for movies) like 'Deadwood,' 'Rome' and even 'The Sopranos,' and the only one I’ve actually seen is 'Sex and the City,'” said author George RR Martin.

"It all depends on how long the main series runs... Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know."
