For the past months, we have been hearing reports about the Project Tango tablet which was already announced by Google. In previous reports, the new slate is said to pack a 3D tracking sensor that would enable it to map its immediate surroundings in 3D.

If you think you are reading this from a sci-fi novel, we're glad to tell you that you are not. And now, a new report confirms that a new version of the Project Tango has been released.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android slate is packed with NVIDIA's latest Tegra K1 chip, which is particularly high-end in performance. The only device that has the same chipset in the market today is Xiaomi's MiPad.

Other notable specs of the device include a 7-inch display of unknown resolution, 4GB of RAM for superior multi-tasking capabilities, and 128GB of storage. We don't know if the Project Tango still offers a microSD card slot to further expand the already huge memory.

In terms of connectivity, the only feature we know about the Google tablet is that it supporst 4G LTE networks, which may come in handy when transferring huge amounts of files.

In the report, the Project Tango tablet by Google also packs a motion tracking camera, and integrated depth sensor which can be used by developers to map 3D environments for various purposes.

The Google slate is designed to work with other Android devices which developers would use in further improving the platform with new apps and features.

If you are a developer and you want to get a hold of this premium device, you will need to prepare $1024 from your stash of cash, as well as sign up on Google's Project Tango website.

Google I/O 2014 is only a few weeks away, and we expect to hear more details about this new sleek Android-powered slate.
