Jeremy Guthrie (2-5, 4.00 ERA) pitched for the Orioles for five seasons. Guthrie has a 1.80 ERA in his last three starts.

"I've just been trying to mix it up," Guthrie said. "I think we've done a pretty good job of keeping the pitches down. Mixing in and away better I think it's helped us get away with a few more mistakes that I've made so hopefully I can continue to do that."

He has faced Derek Jeter more than every player besides seven throughout his career. Guthrie has allowed Jeter to own a .261 batting average off of him.

"He's someone I've always enjoyed facing, I watched him as a kid growing up and I think he's had a tremendous career," Guthrie said. "Obviously, he's done everything right on and off the field for the most part, and someone kids look up to as a role model."

The Yankees' offense has also been struggling during the stretch, averaging only 2.3 runs per game. However, both Carlos Beltran (bone spur) and Mark Teixeira (right wrist) have returned from injuries and will look to give the offense a spark during a 10-game road stretch against the Royals, Mariners and A's, according to MLB.com.

"The A's gave us everything they had, they were fighting us tooth and nail out there," Robertson said following Thursday's win. "It seemed like every pitch they were fouling back and I feel very fortunate to take a win today."
