2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: James Harden Traded For Kevin Love? Houston Will Trade Anyone Not Named Dwight Howard For All-Star Forward!

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions have become a whirlwind after Kevin Love declared that he wanted to be traded. More and more teams want in on the action and one central player may throw in everything including the kitchen sink.

The Houston Rockets had high expectations when they pried Dwight Howard from the Los Angeles Lakers. They were talking championship. But alas, they were out the first round-one of the earliest to go fishing.

That left a bitter taste on the Rockets fans, and one should never count out Daryl Morey's guts when it comes to making blockbuster trades.

It was a no-brainer that the Rockets would be interested in what is probably the best power forward in the game, Kevin Love.

ESPN analyzed the trade chances of the Rockets:

"Trade bait: James Harden, Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin, Terrence Jones, Troy Daniels

Pitch: Houston will sell the Wolves on Harden being the only All-NBA player dangled in an offer, along with an elite defensive big in Asik and any other selection from the end of the roster. Like Golden State, the Rockets' strength is they can give up proven talent to help Minnesota win in the present. Unlike Golden State, Houston can throw in a combination of first-rounders moving forward. In this scenario, Love plays alongside a dominant defensive big in Howard and plays for the man who drafted and coached him in Kevin McHale."

It is noticeable that in their trade bait list, they included James Harden but NOT Chandler Parsons. Their recent move of making Parsons a restricted free agent was said to be a precursor to his trade (to make the salaries match).

It's difficult to envision the Rockets trading Harden after they went through lengths to acquire him. Harden was recently named to the All-NBA first team. Kevin Love was on the second team. But there are rumblings  that Harden did not deserve the distinction.

If the Rockets could not pull off a Kevin Love trade with Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin and draft picks, they would likely not include Parsons in such a package. They feel like Parsons, Asik and draft picks are too much. But with Harden, especially after the first team honor, they can snag Kevin Love straight up.

Curiously, Harden is totally against the Rockets making a major trade. From Ultimate Rockets: "I think we have a lot in our locker room already. A couple of smaller moves would be good for us. I don't know if necessarily the big move would help us out a lot. We have a lot of great players in our locker room, a lot of young guys that want to get better and want to work. Maybe a couple small moves and we're right where we want to be."

Does he have a premonition that he might be traded? The Rockets may be willing to trade anyone not named Dwight Howard for Love but they are still wary of giving up too much-which is the right attitude.
