‘Ant Man’ Movie Director Search Continues! '22 Jumpstreet' Directors Suggest Production To 'Abandon Ship!' New Candidates Emerge!

The search for Ant Man's Director Continues. Top Comedy helmsmen of "22 Jumpstreet" believe it is time to abandon ship!

Probably a very good choice for the director's seat would be the tandem of  Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who recently released the sequel to "21 Jumpstreet"--entitled "22 Jumpstreet." However, as they state in the conversation, they have absolutely no intention for that.

The full report from MTV: "'It seems like a tough person's shoes to step into, you know what I mean?" Miller said on the prospect. 'It's tough to have that as the specter hanging over, what would have been, and what could have been. It seems kind of tough.'

Well, just because something is tough doesn't mean you can't take on the challenge, right?

'We're fans and buddies of Edgar, so...' Miller continued.

'It would be like Spielberg making 'A.I.' It's like, I don't know what to do with it," Lord added on the prospect. "This guy's a genius, I feel strange.'

Okay, fine, so Lord and Miller won't follow up a successful run on "The Lego Movie" and the upcoming (hilarious) "22 Jump Street" by jumping into Marvel's pool for the still scheduled for 2015 "Ant-Man." Then who should take over the production, according to the duo?

'A logical choice would be Edgar Wright... To finish an Edgar Wright film,' Lord said, laughing. 'I mean, Joe Cornish, that would make a lot of sense. Or if they, like, decided to abandon ship and try again years from now it would make more sense.'

The reverence for fellow comedy director Edgar Wright is understandable. But cancelling the project would be disastrous. They already have a cast, and the continuity of the story in relation to the Marvel Cinematic Universe should be considered.

Perhaps that was actually the reason for the 'creative differences' that caused the separation with Wright in the first place.

Deadline reports that there are still candidates: "Rawson Marshall Thurber (WE'RE THE MILLERS) is still being touted as Marvel's first choice for the gig (contrary to reports yesterday, he has not turned down the job as it has yet to be officially offered), while Nicholas Stoller (NEIGHBORS) and Michael Dowse (GOON) have emerged as contenders for mop-up duty."

Will they finally snag a director in time for the June 17, 2015 release date?
