Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Release Date Closes In As Alleged Live Images Surface, Specs Incl. 4.5" Display, 1.5GB RAM, Rumored To Be Water Resistant

After a couple of months of speculation, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini release date is all set.

This comes after a flurry of live images from popular leaker of everything Samsung, SamMobile

According to a report by GSM Arena, the images were posted showing almost everything the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini can offer as far as design and looks go.

In case you are looking for a midrange device that still gets the unique form factor of the Galaxy S5, then the S5 mini can be a good option.

As far as rumors go, the Galaxy S5 mini packs a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a 1.5GB of RAM, quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU clocked at 1.4GHz, Mali-400 GPU for decent graphics performance, and 16GB of internal storage with an option for microSD expansion.

Other specs include an 8MP primary shooter at the back, a 2MP front-facing cam, Gorilla Glass 3, and Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy S5 mini packs LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, IR Blaster, GPS and GLONASS.

The Android-powered handset is also reported to pack the same fingerprint and heartrate monitor of its bigger sibling, as well as water and dust resistance.

However, in the images shown by SamMobile, the device's microUSB slot does not have any covers.

Slated to be released some time this month, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini has often times been considered as an underdog in the battle of 'mini' Androids. Right now, the S5 mini's toughest contender could be the HTC One mini 2 which was announced several weeks back.

The HTC One mini 2 packs the same screen and resolution, though it gets a faster Snapdragon 400 chipset, as well as 13 megapixels of primary camera, and a 5MP snapper in front.
