Goonies Sequel 2014: Corey Feldman and Sean Astin are reportedly onboard with a sequel to Goonies, the 1985 pirate-adventure classic.

Aaccording to E! News, Sean Astin gushed about the possibility of returning to the Goon Docks when he was at the ATX Television Festival on Saturday

A Goonies sequel 2014 has been rumored for a while and E! Online reported that Sean Astin is already dusting off his treasure map.

"My first thought when Dick said he was doing that was like, 'alright, maybe this time it's true!' I hope it's true," Astin said. I certainly like the idea of doing it. I don't know if I'd be in it or not. If they really wanted us to be in it, I'm sure there would be some way to work it out".

Sean Astin played the role of Mikey in the original Goonies. He talked about co-star Corey Feldman's reaction.

'We talk a lot. Corey and I are buddies," Astin admitted when he thought no one was looking. "Oh, he's fired up. He's ready to go."

He added "It'll happen, whether in my lifetime or not."

Feldman played Mouth. Astin says Goonies 2 is is being mapped out by Steven Spielberg, who produced and wrote the story for the original. Astin said "When Steven, who ultimately is the decision-maker on this, when he has felt the magic and he and [Goonies director Richard Donner] are in agreement, which I believe will happen, then it'll be a thing."

Goonies 2 will be coming from the original director Richard Donner. The story has already been written by Steven Spielberg, who co-wrote the original, and Astin spilled "I happen to know that they are actively trying to secure a writer based on an outline that they feel really confident about."

Feldman and Astin both claimed that Chris Columbus is on board for the Goonies sequel.

Astin recently told TheBlaze that "Steven Spielberg said to me when I was 13 years old that he wanted to make a sequel to 'The Goonies' and that he couldn't wait to find the right story."

The actor was asked if this would be a Goonies for new generation. "I think that's what they want to do. I think they want to focus primarily on the kids," Astin said. "I think the audience may be split on that, so they're trying to figure it out."

"The Goonies" director Richard Donner first announced that he was planning a sequel during a TMZ interview in early April.
