The Bucks called up Polanco from Triple-A Indianapolis after the 22-year-old outfielder was leading the International League with a .347 average and 49 RBIs. He hit second in the batting order Tuesday, singled in his second at-bat and finished 1 for 5, according to ESPN.com.

"It felt very good," Polanco told the Pirates' official website. "Now I have that one, and can just play the game."

Polanco scored on McCutchen's ninth homer of the season. The reigning NL MVP is batting .389 with five home runs, six doubles and 10 RBIs in nine games this month.

Jason Hammel will be on the mound as the 6-foot-6 righty looks to improve on his 6-3 record and 2.53 ERA for what is his best season thus far in the MLB. He did not get the win in his last outing after Cubs' closer Hector Rondon surrendered three runs in the ninth, but Hammel has a team-high in wins (6) and also the best ERA in the Cubs' starting rotation -- his 2.53 ERA trumps that of Jeff Samardzija's 2.54 mark by the slimmest of margins, according to ESPN.com.

"Obviously, very confident in my stuff right now, trusting it and having a good game plan," Hammel said after his appearance last Friday. "These right-handed-heavy lineups that I'm getting a lot lately, I have the advantage."
