NBA Draft 2014: Joel Embiid No.1 Overall Pick? Cleveland Finds No Red Flags On Kansas Center's Visit! Will Embiid Replace LeBron James As Savior Of The Cavaliers?

The NBA Draft 2014 is nearing and the team at the hot and coveted seat is the Cleveland Cavaliers. The biggest possible draft prospect, Joel Embiid, has visited Cleveland and seems hopeful to get the nod.

With his rapidly improving game and physical gifts, Embiid would have been a no-brainer at the top spot. But a recent spate of injuries to young big men like Greg Oden, Andrew Bynum and even Dwight Howard has raised alarms for the team at the top. The presence of two phenomenal talents in Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker clouds up the Cavaliers thought process even more.

ESPN covered the heralded center's visit to Cleveland, and there seems to be a positive conclusion:

"Embiid's camp told ESPN.com that they are confident the Cavs' doctors will green-light him. Their own doctors feel that the stress fracture is completely healed. If the Cavs' doctors give the green light (they helped scuttle the Cavs' favorite last year, Nerlens Noel, after red flags were raised in his physical) Cleveland can then evaluate Embiid purely on basketball talent."

First of all, the medical situation. Various sectors who have are not connected to Embiid's camp (Bill Simmons) and even those who have nothing to gain on the issue (Kansas Coach Bill Self, who has another ward, Andrew Wiggins in the top three) have vouched that Embiid's back is alright. Of course, the Cavs will take their own doctors' diagnosis.

Now, we talk about the basketball talent: "The Cavs, like the rest of the league, love what they see. Embiid is a fluid 7-footer who can run the floor like a guard, has very quick feet, has a soft touch around the basket and can step out and hit college-range 3s. He is a tremendous rebounder and rim protector. And he does it all in a 7-foot frame with a 7-5 wingspan.

What's not to like? The comparisons to a young Hakeem Olajuwon seem spot on. Given the Cavs' need at the center position (big man Anderson Varejao is 32 and in the last year of his contract), Embiid is a terrific fit."

There is no doubt that center is the most difficult position to fill in the NBA. But teams have made mistakes in the draft propelled by the urgency of getting a big man. Embiid may have the best odds over the highly drafted big men in recent memory. Is that good enough for the Cavaliers?

Let's all find out on June 26!
