HTC Market Share: Struggling Manufacturer Improves Profit In Q2 2014

For the past couple of years, Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has been struggling, and it is not because it stopped developing quality handsets. It's just that the competition has become tighter since the Android revolution began.

But it looks like the mobile phone maker is heading into the right direction.

This follows as a report by GSM Arena wherein the Taiwanese manufacturer has posted a NT$2.76 billion (roughly $92 million) profit during the second quarter of this year, which ended on June 30.

After taxes, the company would get a NT$2.26 billion, which is certainly something to smile about if you were a part of this company.

In the report, the profit can be attributed to the strong sales of its current flagship, the HTC One M8, which immediately went on sale in some parts of the UK moments after it was launched. The prompt release of the device is certainly a factor as more people would be able to consider it as one of their options.

Other handsets which certainly helped the Taiwanese company include the Desire 610 and 816 which both sport similar design to the M8 but gets a plastic build instead. However, their cameras arguably better than the 'Duo' 4MP UltraPixel shooter of the flagship.

For HTC, one of the most crucial aspects to continue its success is to make sure that they attach reasonable prices for their handsets. Both the two Desire midrangers appealed so much for budget consumers, especially in China where they were first launched.

Moving forward towards Q3 this year, the hope of HTC to continue this promising growth lies in two of its recently announced devices - the HTC One E8, the flagship device under the disguise of a plastic shell, and the One mini 2 which packs decent specs at a lower price tag.
