Some fans of 'E.T. The Extra Terrestrial' have commented 'Earth to Echo's similarity to the well-loved film which was first released in 1982. In an interview with Fashion and Style, 'Earth to Echo' cast Teo Halm addressed the issue.

"If you go back into most movies you can find similarities to a lot of movies. People like to reference ideas to things they know. The movie is about friends and an alien. Et is about one boy and an alien. I think the real similarity is that both movies are loved by all ages (hopefully)," said the 15-year-old.

Director Dave Green has briefly talked to Forbes about 'Earth to Echo' and 'E.T. The Extra Terrestrial': "There was a tone to those movies that we loved. That we hadn't seen in awhile and that we were excited about."

Halm likewise talked about his work relationship with 'Earth to Echo' cast members Brian 'Astro' Bradley, Ella Wahlestedt, and Reese Hartwig: "The rest of the cast were somewhat new to the business at the time as was I, that led us to get really close."

'Earth To Echo' is a film which revolves around a group of friends who receives a series of encrypted messages. Out of interest, the kids embark on an adventure to help Echo, an alien who is in great need of help.

Halm also says that it was quite challenging to work with Echo, the alien: "It was pretty difficult to work with Echo as he is CGI. It was also cool being on a movie that was shot in POV. I was sort of nervous but I didn't really know what to expect so I took it day by day and learned new things on each day."

In an interview with Forbes, Green said that the creative team of the film decided to base Echo's movements on animals and not on actual robotic movements.

"We gave them notes - don't animate a servo moving left and right or up and down. Instead, we told them to go watch a cat or a bird and look at the life and unpredictability a small creature has as it takes its world in," he said.

'Earth to Echo' has been released last July 2.
