‘Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children’ Movie To Be Directed By Tim Burton; Will His Favorites Johnny Depp And Helena Bonham-Carter Join The Spooky Film?

Tim Burton will unleash his directorial skills on the 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' movie, an adaptation based on the famed young adult novel penned by Ransom Riggs. The film will follow a teenager named Jacob who explores an abandoned orphanage on a Welsh island and learns about several children who have been isolated from the society.

The book itself comes with odd and spooky photographs making Burton the ideal director of the 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' movie. The 55-year-old director is known for several strange and scary films including 'Frankenweenie,' 'Dark Shadows,' 'Corpse Bride,' 'The Nightmare before Christmas,' and 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.'

The script will be penned by Jane Goldman who's known for her works for 'X-Men: First Class' and 'The Woman in Black.'

Since Burton's films frequently include Johnny Depp and Helene Bonham-Carter, fans are wondering whether the two will have appearances on the 'Miss Peregrine's' movie. If Depp will be joining the film, surely he won't play the lead role of Jacob.

As per the film's casting call, Jacob is described as "an outsider in his Florida town. Wears odd vintage clothes, as if from another era. After the traumatic & mysterious death of his beloved grandfather leaves him troubled, he sets off in search for answers to the story of his eastern European grandfather. Seeking 18, to play 17."

'Miss Peregrine's' movie will begin filming in August. The producers are eyeing for a July 2015 release.

Meanwhile, Riggs has just released 'Hollow City,' the sequel to his highly-acclaimed novel. While Riggs penned 'Miss Peregrine's' for 10 months, writing 'Hollow City' took him two and a half years.

"There's a whole host of challenges that come with second books. The end of the first book was so open-ended that I could have gone anywhere in the second book. And I tried going everywhere before I picked the way that I thought was best," he told She Knows.

As for the movie, Riggs is excited saying that the creative team is "headed in a good direction."
