Indiana Pacers News: Hibbert To Be Traded Due To Inconsistent Play During NBA 2014 Playoffs?

The Indiana Pacers season was cut short the past season, thanks to the superior performance of the Miami Heat in the Western Conference Finals.

However, even before their series with the Heat, it looks like the Pacers are off to a rough Playoff start, particularly their usually reliable big man, Roy Hibbert.

The big man went scoreless in several consecutive games during a tightly contested series with eight seed Atlanta Hawks. Fortunately, he woke up from his funk before the Hawks totally steal the show and move on the next round.

Hibbert still has 2 in his contract with Indiana, but rumor has it that the Pacers are already shopping him to get more viable options specially from the big names in the free agency pool this pre-season.

While the move may be too late as both Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James have already talked to several teams (James was represented by agent Rich Paul), it may still be a possibility that the Pacers would be able to land another star to replace the incosistent center.

According to a report by Bleacher Report, the Pacers are interested in getting LaMarcus Aldridge from the Trail Blazers, though that may be very 'unlikely' as the front man was stellar in his recent stint in the NBA Playoffs.

In the report, the poor performance of Hibbert in several key games of the Pacers during the Playoffs is due to poor team chemistry, which started when he criticized his teammates for a poor performance upon ending the season.

The Pacers were at the top of the Eastern Conference, and all the matchups are set, so Hibbert should have at least looked into that factor. Afterwards, he apologized, but the damage has been done.

After a lackluster performance against Atlanta which almost pre-maturely ended their stint in the Playoffs, Indiana returned to their old self as they demolished the Wizards in the conference semis, but again bowed to the Miami Heat in 6 games in the Pacers' second straight Eastern Conference Finals appearance.
