Nokia Holding Event In Japan To Increase Sales

Nokia has been doing well in the Lumia department as it continues to promote Microsoft's mobile platform. Unfortunately, it looks like the Finnish brand has not been that appealing for the Japanese market.

As one of the world's tech and electronics capitals, Japan should be among the markets which would appreciate the effort Nokia and Microsoft have put in their Lumia smartphones. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Microsoft's mobile operating system only accounts for 1 percent of the entire market at most. Actually, the rate is between 0 and 1, so we're keeping it slighly alarming than what it really is.

Fortunately, it looks like both Microsoft and Nokia are planning to turn things around, at least one smartphone user at a time. In the report, the two will be holding an event on July 28, which is dubbed NokiaCon.

The event will reportedly be hosted by Japanese mobile phone market expert Yamane Yasuhiro, so that means after the event, we would expect a slight increase in sales, or at least an improvement in the interest for Microsoft's Windows Phone devices.

While there are no details yet which smartphones would make an appearance during the event, we are pretty sure that the latest devices including those running Windows Phone 8.1 would get the spotlight. In China, which is neighbor to Japan, the Lumia 630 and its variants are already selling well. So that means, selling Lumia handsets in this part of the globe can be done, though not as widespread as one can do with Android.

A separate report says that the Windows Phone 8.1 has begun rolling out to supported devices and would first make its arrival in Taiwan and Finland. Now that the new version of Windows Phone can be downloaded and experienced, it could help improve the reputation of Microsoft, not only in Japan, but the rest of the world.
