iPad Air 2 Release Date Announced: New Leaked Pictures, Apple Prepares To Launch New Product Lines This Fall For Holiday Season [PHOTO]

Apple is gearing up to release several devices this fall in advance of the holiday season. The iPad Air 2 is one of those, and it just received a release date.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, trusted analyst from KGI Securities stated earlier that Apple iPad Mini 3 and iPad Air 2 release dates are set for September.

The new iPad Air 2 is said to have been upgraded in terms of performance and graphics with a new A8 chip system.

Despite the upgrade, the iPad Air 2 is said to have very few changes in terms of its design and how it looks, other than a slightly thinner exterior. There are however, upgrades to the home button and the design of the other buttons on the device, as well as the addition of TouchID fingerprint recognition present in the iPhone 5S.

While it may look the same, the iPad Air 2 has reportedly gone through a pretty extensive performance upgrade. The stand out upgrade includes the brand new Apple's A8 processor, which will improve both efficiency and battery life.

In addition, the iPad Air 2 features the same 9.7 inches display with 2,048 x 1,536 pixels screen resolution. The tablet will house an 8 megapixel (iSight) rear-facing camera unit. (the original iPad Air features only a 5 megapixel camera unit.) Also, the significant addition to the iPad Air 2 is the TouchID fingerprint scanner seen in iPhone 5S.

TouchID seems to be the feature of choice surrounding most of the next-gen iPad rumors, as another image claiming to show the iPad Air 2 highlights the fingerprint scanner. While another recent leak mentions that Touch ID will be included in the iPad Air 2 and that it's going to be more durable than the current incarnation.

According to Ecumenical News, the iPad Air 2 will cost around $500.
