New Android Phones 2014: Lava Announces 6" Magnum X604, Specs Incl. Quad-Core CPU, 1GB RAM, 8MP Shooter

There are no shortages of new Android phones in 2014, and if you are looking for a decent spec'd device with an affordable price tag, then this midranger could be just what you need.

According to a report by GSM Arena, India-based manufacturer Lava has just unveiled a new midranger to add to their lineup of affordable Android handsets.

Dubbed as the Magnum X604, the device costs only INR 11,999 or only $200. But with a price tag this low, certainly you wouldn't expect anything decent about its specs and hardware.

Well, Lava will prove you wrong.

The Lava Magnum X604 packs a huge 6-inch IPS with HD (1280 x 720) resolution which certainly is pleasing to look at. The phone's thin frame encapsulates a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, and is paired with 1GB of RAM for decent multi-tasking performance.

Also on board is 8GB of internal memory, an 8-megapixel shooter at the back and a 2MP front-facing camera, as well as microSD card slot. We certainly are surprised that most of these affordable handsets have microSD card slots while some devices from well-known brands choose not to grant this very important feature.

The Lava handset runs on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat which should make the entire Android experience pleasant, as this version is optimized to run in lower-end devices. The phone is powered by a 2,800mAh battery to keep the phone ready and running for at least half a day with moderate use.

Like Lava, other Indian brands are slowly getting more publicity, thanks to their quality but very affordable devices. Just like China-based Xiaomi which just began as a company a few years back, any one of these Indian Android OEMs could have the same fate and dominate this part of the globe as far as smartphone sales is concerned.
