Signing back with the agency in July 2010, Kim Hyun Joong decided to renew his contract with Key East Entertainment. The singer decided to renew it as the expiration date neared. Back in 2010, Kim Hyun Joong left DSP as his contract was coming to an end. At the time, he was working with his group, SS501. Once he left, the other members branched out and signed with other labels, though they were quick to mention that the group had no disbanded.

Hyun Joong mentioned, "No company was financially stable to hire all five members. We're using this time to focus on our solo activities,"

An insider revealed, "Following the steps of Bae Yong Joon, Kim Hyun Joong is being recognized as a hallyu star," Continuing on, they said, "He regards Key East's ability and know-hows of how to enter the Japanese and Asian markets,"

While all of this is happening, Kim Hyun Joong is also filming currently for his upcoming drama titled, "City Conquest" which will be airing at the start of next year, 2013.
