Gennady Golovkin Next Fight: Terrence Crawford Says Kazakh Boxer Avoiding Andre Ward

Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin is treated as one of boxing's greatest stars today and rumor has it that no one wants to fight him right now. But for undefeated American boxer Terrence Crawford, there is one fighter that Golovkin is avoiding and that is fellow American, Andre Ward.

Crawford has a lot of respect for Golovkin, and he admits that he is a must-see boxer of today.

"He is doing a great job in his career, he's doing everything he is supposed to do and he is doing remarkable with his KO streak, and he got the fans wanting to see him," Crawford said via Boxing Scene.

Golovkin said before that he is willing to fight any challengers from his division any time.

"It's very good, very nice. It's a big step up for us. Look, I want 3, 4, 5 times per year, you know, fights," Golovkin said to Fighthype. "For me, it doesn't matter. It's more important to be number one at 160. Right now, just, you know, I don't have opponent."But,

However, Crawford believes that is not entirely true as Golovkin's camp is avoiding Ward.

"Andre Ward would beat Golovkin, because he is the best right now, and he is also the best active boxer right now. It's a big risk for Golovkin to face him. I feel that's why they wouldn't take that fight, because there is no need right now to take the fight," Crawford said.

That fight is also not happening anytime soon as Golovkin is poised to face the winner of the Miguel Cotto vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez fight happening this November.

But, should Alvarez win the fight, he has one condition for Golovkin.

"If he [Golovkin] wants to fight with me, let him come down to 155 and I'll fight him whatever day he wants...At this moment, my body isn't ready for 160 pounds. Maybe 1 or 2 more years I'll be ready for 160," Canelo said.
