So far so good for Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo as he is showing signs of resurgence in his first three games with the team.
Rajon Rondo's reputation was greatly tarnished during last season when he allegedly "quit" on his former team, the Dallas Mavericks. However, people from Rondo's circle know how untrue those rumors are.
"People that know me, know me," Rondo told Yahoo Sports. "I am the way I am. ... They know my character. It is what it is. The perception the media gave me, the character of the person they made me, whoever they made me out to be, that's their prerogative. It doesn't affect me at all."
Rondo also said that he owes where he is now to a lot of people, from his former teammates and coach and he plans to pay it forward to his current teammates especially to franchise star DeMarcus Cousins.
"I might be out of the league if I didn't have a guy like K.G. to show me the ropes and a coach like Doc Rivers," Rondo said. "I feel like I owe it to [Cousins] to help him as much as possible."
Although he might have gave the reason the media to brand him the way he is now, Rondo said everything that happened the previous seasons is a thing of the past and he is no longer turning back.
"I don't look at the past at all," Rondo said. "What's for me is what's for me. Everybody always talks about money, money, money. But for me it's all about happiness."
Future Hall-of-Famer Kobe Bryant also said that Rondo is no way near the person the media portrays him to be.
"People that kind of discarded him are silly," Lakers guard Kobe Bryant told Yahoo Sports. "He had injuries and stuff like that. ... He's going to come back this year and play the way he's always been playing. No surprise at all."
