With the current season of "Doctor Who" steadily coming to its end, all attention is focused on what the future may hold. Now, we have a few answers.
Despite earlier reports, it appears that "Doctor Who" Season 10 might not have a truncated episode count. During an interview with BBC News, Peter Capaldi (the alleged perpetrator for the reduction) denied such claims.
"Not as far as I know," said Capaldi. "That's not what I've been told. That is not what I'm contracted for."
In addition, Capaldi reportedly would like to see an "earthier" companion for the Doctor after actress Jenna Coleman makes her exit as Clara Oswald.
"It's one of the things I loved about Billie Piper," he said according to Doctor Who TV.
"That was a very new thing in 'Doctor Who'-to have somebody who lived on an estate, and had a much earthier sound to their voice. I mean, I love Jenna-I'm really sad that she's gone, and I feel quite bad discussing the possibility of somebody else. So it's no reflection on her. But I think it might be interesting to have somebody who's a little more earthy!"
But while it seems the episode count may not be reduced, "Doctor Who" production designer Michael Pickwoad hinted that filming for Season 10 would not begin until around April or May of 2016.
In the meantime, "Doctor Who" will conclude Season 9 along with its annual Christmas Special. This year, the popular River Song will return in the holiday episode.
"To be honest, I did not know whether River would ever return to the show, but here she is, back with the Doctor for the Christmas special," said Kingston.
"Steven Moffat is on glittering form, giving us an episode filled with humor and surprise guest castings. I met Peter for the first time at Monday's read through, we had a laugh, and I am now excited and ready to start filming with him and the Doctor Who team. Christmas in September? Why not!"
