The Eagles of Death Metal are from Palm Desert, California. They were formed in 1998 by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme, who also plays in Queens of the Stone Age.. The lineup changes and the band often plays under humorous aliases.
Eagles of Death Metal are not a death metal band and not quite a sonic mix of what it would sound like if The Eagles, the seventies soft rock band with the California sound, played death metal, though the band has enough members who both sing and play guitar to make that work too.
Homme described the sound of the band as a combination of "bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned Heat vocals."
The Eagles of Death Metal's current lineup is Jesse Hughes, AKA The Devil and Boots Electric, on vocals and guitar; Josh Homme, AKA Carlo Von Sexron, DP Pete, Baby Duck and Zombie Zebra on guitar, backing vocals, keyboards, bass, drums, percussion; Dave Catching, AKA Darlin' Dave or Davey Jo on guitar, vocals and bass; Matt McJunkins on bass and vocals; Julian Dorio on drums and Eden Galindo on guitar and vocals.
The Eagles of Death Metal posted a photo of the concert hall just as they hit the stage.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
