Dan Akroyd believes Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" reboot could be better than the original movie.
"Paul's kind of the George Cukor of Hollywood: He has a great touch directing female actors and he really knows how to hit the female psyche and sensibility," the actor said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "In a way, his movie might be a little better than the first two because they can do more - CGI might be a little better. But also, you know, there might be more jokes in it. I'm really happy with what I'm seeing."
Meanwhile, rumors are circling that Slimer will be making an appearance in the new film.
According to Screen Crush, movie gossip site Bloody Disgusting has "confirmed" that Dan Castellaneta - better known as the voice behind Homer Simpson - has offered his talents to the "glowing green ghoul."
"The IMDb cannot be trusted but, according to the site, 'The Simpsons' voice actor Dan Castellaneta will be lending his talents to Slimer," the reports reads.
Paul Feig took to his Twitter to claim otherwise his thoughts about the "Ghostbusters" reboot.
The new Ghostbusters are Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates, Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan and Kate McKinnon as Jill Holztmann. Also appearing are Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live), Chris Hemsworth (Thor: The Dark World), Michael Kenneth Williams (Boardwalk Empire) and Andy Garcia (Ocean's Eleven).
The original "Ghostbusters" released in 1984 and starred Bill Murray (St. Vincent) as Dr. Peter Venkman, Dan Akroyd (Get On Up) as Dr. Raymond Stantz, Harold Raims (Groundhog Day) as Dr. Egon Spengler, and Ernie Hudson (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle) as Winston Zeddmore; the cast reprised their roles in the sequel, "Ghostbusters II."
Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" reboot is set to release in theaters on July 22, 2016.
