Pro skaters Guy Mariano and Eric Koston part ways with longtime sponsor Crailtap.
According to Caught In the Crossfire, Mariano's name was reported missing from websites of his sponsors: Lakai, Girl and Fourstar - all of which are owned by the Girl Distribution Company. The news that sparked rumors on the interwebs was later on confirmed by Nike Skateboarding when the sportswear giant posted a video of the skater on their Instagram.
"With over 20 years of friendship in the history pot between both parties, Guy has jumped ship from the warm arms of the Crailtap family into mainstream sports brand territory that has shocked many and excited some," reads their report. "The Nike SB instagram from the announcement is awash with joy and equal disappointment and hatred as seen in the comments below."
Here is the post that confirmed Mariano as an official Nike SB team rider.
Here's more about Mariano's transfer via Nike Skateboarding's Twitter.
Meanwhile, Eric Koston, Mariano's teammate on Girl has also jumped ship, although little is known about who he'll be riding for. Transworld Skateboarding caught the buzz and wrote, "It's been quite a day in skateboarding. Eric Koston and Guy Mariano have parted ways with Girl Skateboards officially with a note on Girl's Instagram reading, 'Thanks for the memories.' No news on where they're going but rumors are they'll be starting their own endeavor."
Both skaters haven't made any statements on their social media regarding the news.
