'Captain America: Civil War' Cast Member Emily VanCamp Discusses Sharon Carter's Role

"Captain America: Civil War" cast member Emily VanCamp talks Sharon Carter's role in Marvel's biggest crossover film.

The movie has already released it's first full theatrical trailer, giving fans their first look at former teammates Steve Rogers and Tony Stark on opposite sides of the debate about registering superheroes on Earth, with each side leading their own team.

Now, "Captain America: Civil War" cast member Emily VanCamp has now revealed her Sharon Carter's role in the conflict and which side she'll be on.

"She's definitely Team Captain America," VanCamp told ET. "That's who she is within the universe, I mean, she's always had his back."

The "Beyond the Blackboard" actress mentioned that her character will get in on the action in "Civil War."

"I got to do a small fight sequence with Scarlett [Johansson] which was fun," she explained. "We're all just kind of kicking ass in those movies."

The 29-year-old also touched on her character's romantic relationship with Stever Rogers and revealed that it won't happen in the upcoming film. When asked if she thinks that fans will be happy in seeing Rogers and Carter's romance unfold on the big screen, the actress said, "I hope so."

"That's where it all gets really tricky because there are die-hard fans that want to see him with different people," she added. "There's all the different camps, so hopefully people are happy with it."

Based on VanCamp's answer, its unlikely the relationship between Sharon Carter and Steve Rogers will be explored in the upcoming film.

According to Screen Rant, their lack of romance is comparable to Black Widow and the Hulk's relationship. Even Mark Ruffalo who plays The Hulk has previously said that "There is little room for romance in 'Civil War.'"

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, "Captain America: Civil War" releases in theaters on May 6, 2016.
