'Captain America: Civil War' Cast Member Anthony Mackie Tips Hat Off To Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther

"Captain America: Civil War" cast member Anthony Mackie discusses Chadwick Boseman playing Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The recently released "Captain America: Civil War" trailer has already set a new record for Marvel as the studios' most-watched trailer, with a staggering 61 million global views in its first 24 hours. It also gave fans a glimpse at one of Marvel's heavily-anticipated characters, Black Panther.

Played by Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther a.k.a. T'Challa, will be introduced in "Civil War" where he'll play a pivotal role in the upcoming Phase Three film before coming out with his solo movie.

In an interview with Comic Book Resource, "Captain America: Civil War" cast member Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon in the MCU, expressed his excitement over Boseman's debut.

"I've known Chad for a long time," Mackie revealed. "I was very happy when I heard he got cast as Black Panther, because I knew he'd do the work to bring that character to life. It's not so much about two black actors being in a movie at the same time. It's more so about the right black actor getting that role to do the work to make it timeless, and Chadwick is that guy."

Boseman, 39, is best known for his breakout role as professional baseball player Jackie Robinson in the 2013 biopic "42." He also portrayed James Brown in the musical biopic "Get on Up" last year.

"I'm excited about it too!" the "Captain America: Civil War" cast said in an interview with Variety in 2014. "I'm beyond excited. It's like to the point where you feel numb and then your mind goes off into, 'Okay, how do I achieve that?' But I think the great thing about it is that this actual character is unique in a lot of ways."

"Captain America: Civil War" releases on May 6, 2016. "Black Panther" arrives on Feb. 16, 2018.
