Spider-Man Reboot: Tom Holland Reveals How He Was Chosen To Be Marvel's Webslinger

"Spider-Man" reboot actor Tom Holland explains how he was chosen to play the webslinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The 19-year-old sat down with The Daily Beast and talked about his casting experience, which began when when he called his manager, wanting to send in a tape to Marvel, only to find out that Marvel was already requesting for one.

"That alone was crazy," he said. "I couldn't quite believe that Marvel knew who I was."

From there, Tom Holland sent in a tape, which was returned with notes from Marvel's casting director Sarah Finn. Holland says that he did five tapes in total and in the fifth and final tape, he was asked to come to Finn's office for a screen test.

"I did two-one with RDJ, Robert Downey Jr., who was amazing," Holland explained. "I couldn't have asked for a cooler guy. And the second test was with Chris Evans, and it was pretty awesome and kind of surreal for me. We had to do a movement test and then I said, 'Can I just demonstrate some of the things that I can do?' and they all were a little unsure of what I was talking about, and then I did a series of backflips and landed on the X, and was like, 'Thank you!' and then just left."

The "Impossible" actor also touched on how he found out that he's Spider-Man. Rather than receiving the news from his agent or Marvel, Holland learned that he got the job via the internet.

"I was having this terrible day and I went home and was scrolling through Instagram, and I saw Marvel had posted a photo of Spider-Man with the message, 'We have cast the new Spider-Man! Go to our website to see who it is. I learned about it online with everybody else, and I just went bananas."

Tom Holland's Spider-Man will debut in "Captain America: Civil War" in 2016, before headlining his own reboot film for 2017.

According to Screen Rant, "Captain America: Civil War" releases on May 6, 2016 and "Spider-Man" reboot on July 28, 2017.
