The "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" movie is right around the corner and the actor appearing in the movie is ready to take on the challenge set for him.
John Boyega, who plays Finn in the film, sat down with Screen Rant to talk about his early experiences with the franchise.
"Well, 'Phantom Menace' was the first movie I saw, and then a few years later I then saw the originals," Boyega explained. "But during that time I was just into the merchandise, the games, the comic books, and the Star Wars fandom has been with me ever since. And then I got cast! They cast a Star Wars fan in a Star Wars movie and now it's over. It's guaranteed. Star Wars is going to be with me for the rest of my life."
John Boyega also touched on his character Finn, who will play a central role in the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
"Oh, I think he has just the most interesting story, for me, you know, reading the script," he gushed. "To go into the mind and the perspective of a stormtrooper, who's nothing more than a stormtrooper, is just very intelligent and it's an interesting way to kick off the new generation of these 'Star Wars' movies."
He also touched on Finn's journey, transitioning from the dark side to the light side.
"Not only is the character in over his head and someone who is just dropped into an extraordinary circumstance, the scenes and the script prove that and it's not a problem that can just be erased," he said.
Directed by J.J. Abrams, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is the next installment to George Lucas' long-running space opera that began with 1977's "Star Wars: A New Hope." It is also marks the first film to be released under the Walt Disney company, who bought the rights to the franchise in 2012.
Disney has given the film an official Dec. 18, 2015 release date.
