'Batman V Superman' Production Designer Says 'Doomsday Isn't Just The Final Act'

"Batman V Superman" production designer Patrick Tatopoulos talks Doomsday and claims that there's still plenty to discover about the upcoming crossover film.

A few weeks ago, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment dropped the third theatrical trailer "Dawn of Justice" but was slammed by critics for revealing too much about the film's narrative. In a head-turning surprise, the preview also introduced Doomsday in "Batman V Superman" - a surprise even loyal followers thought should have been unveiled for the film's premiere.

Tatopoulos sat down with French magazine Premiere and reassured fans that there's still a lot more WB is keeping under wraps for now.

"We are able to tell a story in a fresh way," Tatopoulos said in a statement translated by Cosmic Book News. "Doomsday is an evolution essentially. Fans may be aware of the death of Superman story, but this is handled in such a new way."

Tatopoulos then touched Superman and how Lex Luthor will manipulate him.

"When the film is called Batman v or versus Superman, it really has a lot of levels to the meaning. Superman isn't just killed off at the end of something. We see how he evolves as part of Lex's plan to protect the world," he explained. "Seeing the Superman we know, be gone, and then replaced with this reproduction is really going to make fans think of how we look at these super beings."

"It was especially interesting to figure out, how would you create Superman from Zod... then how would that evolve into Doomsday."

Based on Tatopoulos' quotes, Screen Rant speculates that the Superman from "Man of Steel" could at some point in the film be imprisoned by Luthor, while an impostor "Superman" is unleashed in Metropolis.

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" releases on March 25, 2016.
