"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" reveal the roles of Iko Uwais and fellow "The Raid" cast members appearing in the film.
Earlier in January, news broke out that several of "The Raid" cast members have been added to seventh Star Wars installment. J.J. Abrams reportedly handpicked actors Iko Uwais, Cecep Arif Rahman and Yayan Ruhian to participate in the film, although it wasn't clear if they're were only doing fight cheoreography or officially part of the cast.
Screen Rant reports that at least two of the actors roles have been leaked in a photo from an upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" tie-in book. The image from Comic Book Movie (which has since been taken down) reveals that Ruhain will play a character named Tasu Leech and Uwais playing Razoo Quin-Fee - both members of an intergalactic criminal gang called Kanjiklub.
While little is known about their characters' roles in the film, it's safe to assume that we'll be seeing some martial arts combat like never before in previous "Star Wars" installments.
Directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is the seventh installment to the long-running sci-fi series that began with 1977's "Star Wars: A New Hope." It also marks the first installment to be released under the Disney banner since the company purchased the franchise from Lucasfilm in 2012.
The plot is set approximately 30 years after the events of "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi." The Rebel Alliance, now known as the Resistance, battle a new enemy called the First Order. It follows new lead characters Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) alongside returning characters Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) and R2D2 (Kenny Baker).
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" arrives on Dec. 18, 2015.
