"The Hateful Eight" has a major connection to "Inglorious Basterds" according to Tim Roth.
As many already know, Roth will appear as in Quentin Tarantino's latest film, "The Hateful Eight," which originally started out as a sequel to 2013's "Django: Unchained." Now, the actor claims his character, Oswaldo Mobray, is actually connected to another Tarantino film.
"He's connected to one of the characters. I won't say which one," Roth told The Huffington Post. "He's the great, great grandfather of one of the characters in 'Inglourious Basterds,'" Roth revealed.
The Huffington Post speculates that "The Hateful Eight's" Mobray could be related to one of the soldiers in "Inglorious Basterds," specifically B.J. Novak's character, Smithson Utivich, as both share the nickname "The Little Man."
According to Screen Rant, Utivich in the 2013 film is "visibly resentful of this peculiar nickname, which could suggest he hasn't been able to escape the shadow of his great, great grandfather." There is still a possibility, of course, that Roth's "The Hateful Eight" character could be connected to another character from "Inglorious Basterds."
"The Hateful Eight" is set in a wintry Wyoming landscape about a decade after the Civil War. Eight strangers are forced to take shelter at Minnie's Haberdashery, where things get violent as they learn they share a deadly connection.
Tarantino's eighth film, which was shot entirely on celluloid film, will be screened in 70mm in 100 theaters across the U.S. beginnning on Dec. 25, and digital screenings on Jan. 1, 2016.
"The Hateful Eight" stars Michael Madsen as Joe Gage, Kurt Russell as John Ruth, Zoe Bell as Six-Horse Judy, Jennifer Jason Leigh as Daisy Domergue, Demian Bichir as Bob, Walton Goggins as Sheriff Chris Mannix, Dana Gourrier as Minnie, Samuel L. Jackson as Major Marquis Warren and Bruce Dern as General Sandy Smithers.
