Dystopian Fairytale Steampunk band Psyche Corp. is fundraising, through a Kickstarter campaign, for a music video and offering "splendid swag."
"I envision this project as a visual blend of the mystical and the macabre," told KpopStarz exclusively,
Psyche Corporation, is a fairytale cyber/steampunk band fronted by a former Ladies of Steampunk model and programmer who combines dance with a powerhouse vocal range. The band is named after a dream manufacture group from a future where neural implants allow people to download dreams from the Internet. Songs deal in dystopian themes as well as more lighthearted folk works, such as "Perl-Operated Boy". The musical style spans genres of trip-hop, electro-rock, and world music.
After releasing their 5th album, "Romance of the Counter-Elite," last October, Psyche Corp. is hoping to make a music video for a special song from the new album, called "Dance for Me." The music video will showcase "a decadent gothic fairytale visual narrative about a ballet dancer, who finds herself becoming a marionette for a sinister cosmic power," according to Psyche Chimère.
"The set is already partially built with archways shaped like stylized vertebral columns ("spinal arches").
"Dance for Me" is an exploration of "how the counter-elite are seduced by the elite to join in a corrupt power structure that they may never find the courage to overthrow," according to the album's liner notes.
Funds from theKickstarter campaign will be used to cover the costs of the music video, such as renting lighting and auxiliary camera equipment, paying for costuming and prop materials, and overall allowing for better production values.
"I'd really love to bring you a decadently visual narrative to accompany this song--that's right, a music video," the campaign page promises.
"Psyche Corporation would be grateful for any help they can get," Psyche explained.
Psyche Corp. will also be performing this Saturday at QXTs during the QXTs Art Series Film Festival, as well as serving as a co-host!
"Come check the music out in person," Psyche invited.
