Postponed ‘Narcos’ Season 2 Release Date To See Death Of Main Character?

The "Narcos" season 2 release date has reportedly been postponed.

According to Christian Post, fans will need to continue waiting in patience for the highly-anticipated "Narcos" season 2 release date. It was said that the show seems to have been delayed from its Aug. 2016 schedule. This led to speculations that the Netflix show has been canceled.

"Narcos" season 2 has been confirmed to follow Pablo Escobar's real-life timeline. This could mean that Wagner Moura's character will be killed off in the coming season's finale.

Crossmap noted that the first season of "Narcos" was so fast-paced that the series was able to convey the story of Escobar's rise to power in merely 10 episodes. Near the end part of last season, the drug lord ruled in a La Catedral prison.

Pablo Escobar's escape from prison was featured in the "Narcos" season 1 finale. It was said that showrunner Chris Brancato was able to retell 15 years of Escobar's life in just 10 episodes.

The upcoming "Narcos" season 2 release date will only need to cover 18 months of the drug mogul's life. Pablo Escobar died on Dec. 2, 1993 after he was gunned down by the Colombian National Police.

/FILM reported that producer Eric Newman has revealed key details for "Narcos" season 2. Newman admitted that the show has always been intended to have an ending.

"Trust me, if we could find a way to keep him alive and keep Wagner on the show," Newman said. "He will die. The design of the show is we told 15 years of history in season one."

"At the point of Escobar's escape which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live," he added. "That's not something we can change. To stretch that out beyond another season would be disingenuous of us. That story was always designed to have an ending."
