New ‘Cardcaptor Sakura’ Manga Series Confirmed

This coming Saturday, the Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine is going to announce that CLAMP will be launching their new "Cardcaptor Sakura" manga series as a sequel. They will release this announcement in the magazine's July issue on Jun. 3.

The new manga series will be set in the time after Sakura graduates from Tomoeda Elementary School and now enters in junior high school. She is believed to have an encounter with a mysterious dream and things suddenly didn't turn well.

According to Anime News Network, there were 12 million copies of manga series that was sold and the magazine also mentioned that last month the CLAMP will publish their new manga in the franchise.

It was cited that this year will be the 20th anniversary of the original "Cardcaptor Sakura" manga. Furthermore, it was on Apr. 6 that the NHK's BS Premium started to re-run the Clow Card arc of the "Cardcaptor Sakura" anime.

The earliest "Cardcaptor Sakura" manga series was released in May 1996 to Jun. 2000 in Nakayoshi. It was then followed by 12 volumes of manga which was published by Kodansha from Nov. 1996 to Jul. 2000. While the series was distributed in two editions as English by Tokyopop, it was also turned into an omnibus format by the Dark Horse Comics.

On the other hand, the anime series was aired from Apr. 1998 to Mar. 2000 by Madhouse. While "Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie" was released in 1999 followed by "Cardcaptor Sakura: The Sealed Card" in 2000 in Japan.

It was the NIS America that made this anime licensed in 2014 and produced it in Blu-ray Premium Edition and DVD Standard Edition in North America.

This story is about a ten year old girl named Sakura who lived a normal life with her older brother Toya and his father Fujitaka. Until one day, after she has gone from school, she discovered a glowing book in her father's study room while cleaning the house. When she opened it, all the cards were released and she was assigned to capture all these magical cards back. While doing so, she also needs to live a normal life of a fourth grader and learned many things while to relying in her friends and family.
