"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" might have been short on revealing any background information about Rey, but Daisy Ridley promised fans that most of their questions might be answered in Episode 8.
Various speculations about Rey's origin sparked left and right after "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was released in December.
One of these theories is that Daisy Ridley's character could be the daughter of Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill. These speculations further escalated recently, when Ridley revealed in an interview that she and Hamill will be having a lot of scenes together in Episode 8.
"Me and Mark have been rehearsing a lot, and it's really amazing," Daisy Ridley said in an interview with MTV News on the Oscars red carpet.
"When we went back to Skellig to do the opening of [Episode] VIII, it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people. He's amazing to rehearse with, and I'm very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff," the actress continued.
"It's such a good story," the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actress added,as quoted by Mirror. "Seriously. Luke is so cool in this one. Really."
Did Ridley's statement confirmed that Rey is indeed Luke Skywalker's daughter? It may not be clear right now, and people close to the production are keeping their lips sealed about the Episode 8 plot.
There have also been previous theories that Rey could be Obi Wan Kenobi's daughter or granddaughter.
"It wouldn't be wild speculation to assume that Luke will now train Rey in the ways of the Jedi in Episode 8," Huffington Post previously wrote.
"If Rey is a Kenobi (admit it, you're convinced), this would be a profound and emotional reversal of the role of mentor and teacher: a Kenobi training a Skywalker followed by a Skywalker training a Kenobi. Narrative symmetry."
Even if "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has just been released two months ago, fans are already excited to know more about Rey's background in Episode 8 which is slated to be shown on theaters December of next year.
