YG’s actress Lee Sung-Kyung prepares hard for new MBC drama “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”

Model and talented actress Lee Sung-Kyung has prepared hard to play her new role in the new MBC drama “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” (역도요정 김복주 = Yeokdo Yojeong Kim Bok-Joo). She will play a role as a female weightlifter, based on the life of a real Korean female weightlifting athlete.

In order to become fully immersed in her role, she trained in the Korean National Sport University facility, which is used by real national athletes of Korea. She trained under the national coach, who praised her tenacity, as reported by SE Daily.

“Lee has an excellent tenacity and determination to focus in her training regime,” the coach said. “Her strong drive really impress other weightlifter.”

The drama “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” will replace “Shopping King Louis” as the Wednesday-Thursday’s MBC drama. The drama is slated to air on November 16, according to News PIM.

“Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” is loosely based on the life of Olympic gold medalist female weightlifter Jang Mi-Ran, who won a gold medal in the Female +75 kg category back in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Jang is also the four-time weightlifting world champion, winning three times in a row in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009.

Lee is a talented actress and singer who started her career as a model in 2008. She joined the YG Entertainment Agency to start her acting career in 2014, as a supporting cast for SBS drama “It’s Okay, This is Love.” Her latest drama project was the SBS drama “Doctors” along with Kim Rae-Won and Park Sin-Hye.

Earlier this year she released a single in collaboration with theMYSTIC89 Entertainent Agency singer songwriter Eddy Kim. The song was a cover version of the South Korean vocal group Sharp “Sweet Kiss Like Coffee.”
