DSP Media disbanded their girl group Rainbow which was debuted in 2009. The reason for the dissolution is the contract between the group members and the agency end this November.
The agency announced the dissolution of their sexy girl group Rainbow in an official statement as quoted by KBS News on Oct. 28 after seven years. The agency mentioned that contract between DSP Media and the group members will end on Nov. 12. In regard to that, both the agency and group members decided to end the contract.
However, DSP Media have already discussed the future plan of each seven member after the disbandment.
"We want Rainbow to be remembered as bright and shiny girl group like the seven colors of rainbow,’ the agency said. “We hope to continue supporting and encouraging their activities in the future.”
From the seven members of Rainbow, only Kim Jae-Kyung, and Noeul who departed from DSP Media. The the other five members, Woori, Seungah, Yoonhye, Jisook and Hyunyoung stay with the agency. Rainbow was the second DSP Media group which was dissolved this year after KARA disbandment on April 13.
Meanwhile other KPop girl group acts which have passed the seven years stint are already in question of disbandment according to News One. Those groups are YG Entertainment’s 2NE1, JYP Entertainment’s Miss A, Cube Entertainment’s 4Minute, and TS Entertainment’s Secret.
Rainbow was formed in 2009 by DSP Media with seven members that represent the seven colors of rainbow. The group debuted with mini album “Gossip Girl” in November 2009. Afterward the group raised to their fame with album “Over the Rainbow” in 2012.
DSP Media also established two sub-unit of the Rainbow, trio Rainbow Pixie and Rainbow Blaxx. Each sub-unit have released their own single, Rainbox Pixie with “Hoi, Hoi” in 2012 and Rainbox Blaxx with “Cha Cha” in 2014.
