The Korean remake of the HBO series “Entourage” still focused its story on the four young men as a group in the episode 3. The drama has not explored the individual character deeply. This may be the reason of the plunge of its rating.
Prior to its airing, the drama scored a new record in the Korean broadcasting history. The production house has signed contracts to air "Entourage" in nine different Asian countries before its premiere. However, after the first week, viewers in Korea has lost their interest with the drama in the episode 3.
According to Yonhap News Agency, “Entourage” lost more than 1.5 percent of its previous rating after its successful first week. The first episodes recorded an average of 2.15 percent in TnMS and 1.75 percent in AGB Nielsen Korea. However, the second week’s episodes fell to 1.5 percent and 1.17 percent in TnMs and AGB Nielsen Korea respectively.
The drama which is aired in the cable channel TV has relatively around four times smaller audience than the public broadcast TV. Therefore, a drop of more than 1 percent showed a significant loss of interest from the audience.
"Entourage" has a full of good actors as the cast of characters - Seo Kang-Joon, Lee Kwang-Soo, Park Jung-Min, Lee Dong-Hwi and veteran actor Cho Jin-Woong. Unfortunately, their acting skills are not fully optimized as the storyline has not expanded to develop the character deeper.
The drama will be a great opportunity for Cho to exhibit his great acting skill. Cho plays the celebrity agent Kim Eun-Gab, which is equivalent of the memorable Ari Gold character in the original HBO series, played by Jeremy Piven. However, until the episode 4, his character has not fully explored.
The next episodes of “Entourage” will air on Nov. 18 and 19 on tvN at 11:00 p.m. KST (GMT+9). Watch the preview of the Episode 5 below:
