All members of hip hop group Big Bang will enter the mandatory conscription starting this year. T.O.P will begin to enter the duty, followed by Taeyang, G-Dragon and the youngest two members Daesung and Seungri.
According to earlier report, T.O.P. has completed the exam to appy as as police officer for conscription duty on Oct. 25. The main rapper of Big Bang registered using his real name Choi Seung-Hyun (최승현).
The result of the exam was announced last Friday Nov. 11 and Chosun Ilbo reported that T.O.P. was listed of the successful candidate. Subsequently, he will begin his conscription duty as police officer next year.
Next members to be conscripted are Taeyang and G-Dragon who will apply for conscription next year. Afterward the two youngest members Daesung and Seungri will follow in the year after.
Recently there are three Korean idols who have already serve consription duty as police officers. Lee Dong-Hae and Choi Si-Won from Super Junior and TVXQ member Shim Chang-Min. The three of them have served the duty for more than a year, and Lee is scheduled to discharge on July 14 next year, while Shi-Won and Chang-Min will be discharge on Aug. 18, 2017.
This year marked the 10th year anniversary of Big Bang, which were debuted in September 2006. Within their ten years of career, all five members are still together and they have released seven studio albums and nine live albums.
Big Bang is one of the most famous K-Pop idol groups in the world. Based on the Top 100 Forbes Celebrity List, the hip-hop group earned USD 44 million in pretax earnings last year. That surpassed the highest-paid pop group Maroon 5, which scored USD 33.5 million, and even exceeding Dr. Dre, who obtained USD 41 million.
