Cho Jin-Woong delivers great performance in ‘Entourage’ despite ratings plunge

Veteran actor Cho Jin-Woong lives up his reputation as one of the great actors in Korea. His performance in "Entourage" is remarkable to deliver the role of a talent agent. However, the tvN drama suffered very low ratings beyond repair.

His role as Kim Eun-Gab in the "Entourage" is a challenging one. It is because Eun-Gab is the equivalent of Ari Gold in the original HBO version, which was played, Jeremy Piven. However, Cho can portray Eun-Gab character to be different from Ari Gold.

In the original version of the "Entourage," Ari Gold was pictured as a snob, talkative, ambitious, goal-oriented and a man with no manner. He would do anything to get his actor Vincent Chase and other getting the role. His persona is one of the determining factors that makes the drama aired for eight seasons in 7 years.

In the Korean version of "Entourage," Choi portrays a different agent than Ari Gold. He still shows a snob, talkative and ambitious agent, but he still describes the agent as a man with Korean character. Choi keeps that important character and is successful to show a difference in the customs and culture between Hollywood and K-Pop.

His performance is also noted by Seoul Daily News which compare the reality in the K-Pop industry with the one portrayed in the drama.

In the "Entourage" Episode 12 aired on Dec.10, the actor Young-Bin was accompanied by his friend Ho-Jin to meet Kang Ok-Ja, Eun-Gab's mother and co-founder of the agency, as reported by Korea Daily. They approached her because they were unable to persuade Eun-Gab to give movie project instead of drama. However, she supported Eun-Gab's decision.

Nevertheless, regarding viewership, "Entourage" is considered as a losing project for Korean viewers. The last week's episode continued plunged to below 1 % rating.
