It seems that more and more actors will have cameos in the hit SBS series "Legend of the Blue Sea."
After having the "2 Days and 1 Night" host Cha Tae Hyun on the show, actor Jo Jong Suk had his cameo role for the episodes 7 and 8 of "Legend of the Blue Sea."
HIGHLIGHTS
1. Jo Jong Suk: The Merman
Jo Jong Suk played the role of a merman who traded his fins for a pair of feet. He entered the scene as an 119 rescuer who just saved Sim Chung from attempting to jump off the Han River. Upon holding the arms of Sim Chung, both of them sensed that they are the same---that they are from the same world.
2. Tears for Money
Jong Suk engaged in some serious small talk with Sim Chung. They exchanged stories about what made them trade their fins into a pair of feet. Apparently, Jong Suk's role had his first love who then lost interest in him and got married to another guy. Sim Chung then shared her story about Joon Jae whom she has an unrequited love. Jong Suk then gave her tips on how to score Joon Jae's heart. This part is witty as Jong Suk was able to pull off adding his recent k-drama "Jealousy Incarnate" as a punchline.
As a newly found friend to Sim Chung, Jong Suk also gave her tips on how to have more money by crying. Mermaids produce pearls when they cry, and this can be exchanged for big money in the human world. The two had some comedic crying session while watching Jong Suk's leading lady, Gong Hyo Jin, in one of her dramas "Master Sun."
3. Jealousy Incarnate
Jong Suk's cameo truly gave a big impact in episode 7 as he left a mark in Joon Jae's relationship with Sim Chung. After earning some money from crying, Jong Suk and Sim Chung shopped and fixed their selves for their acting session in an attempt to make Joon Jae jealous.
Their plot is a success as Joon Jae started blurting sighs and frowns from seeing them together. Jong Suk had memorable cheesy parts in this episode such as when he pissed Joon Jae off by saying that he felt relieved just by seeing Joon Jae as if stating that Joon Jae is not at his level to be considered as a rival. Jong Suk also annoyed Joon Jae further by doing a childish gesture of doing a camera clicking sound and saying to Sim Chung that he can already say goodbye as he already has a mental picture of her.
4. The Farewell
Episode 8 is filled with Jong Suk's friendly and realistic tips for the naïve Sim Chung. He advised Sim Chung to learn the art of knowing who tells the truth from those who do not. Personally, I would love to see Jong Suk as a permanent character in the series as he made a big impact as a fellow merman/mermaid to Sim Chung. However, it is only a cameo, so his role got killed on episode 8. Apparently, since his love was not reciprocated, his heart hardened making him die. To return the kindness of the merman, Sim Chung told Jong Suk's lover about his last message for her and explained about the pink pearl ring's symbolism.
Indeed, Jong Suk proved how good his acting is in his cameo for "Legend of the Blue Sea." Currently, Jong Suk is busy in promoting his movie "Brother" alongside EXO's D.O.
