The legendary Kpop girl group 2NE1 are sadly closing the curtain as YG Entertainment CEO has opted to disband the group. In order to pay homage to their countless fans, 2NE1 released their final single "Goodbye" and it is already topping charts.
2NE1 has graced fans and supporters with years of beautiful music, and to the chagrin of many, the popular girl group is disbanding. According to Yibada, the group's last single "Goodbye" is already reaching massive views only a few days since its release. The 2NE1 farewell song was released on Jan. 20, Friday and already has 6.26 million views on YouTube as of Jan. 23, Monday.
Moreover, 2NE1's farewell song "Goodbye" is also dominating iTunes charts of different countries, including Cambodia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam as reported by The Jakarta Post. The group's official final song is said to be the girl group's farewell message to their fans from all over the world.
"Goodbye" was composed by two-time Grammy nominee Rook Monroe and producer J Gramm. While the farewell song was also co-written by 2NE1 leader CL and Oh Hyuk of Hyuk Oh Band.
The disbandment of 2NE1 definitely came as a shock to many and according to previous reports, the disbandment was not the first decision made by YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk. Apparently, the group was supposed to continue as a trio after Minzy decided to leave 2NE1. However, Park Bom's involvement with a drug scandal led to Yang Hyun Suk to decide that it was time to disband. It is worth mentioning that the YG Entertainment CEO wanted to prioritize the mental and physical health or Park Bom, and even hinted that the group may reunite one day.
2NE1's farewell song "Goodbye" is rendered sentimentally, in black and white. The music video features CL reminiscing as she watches some of 2NE1's past performances as well as the happy moments the group shared. The music video also features photos and videos of 2NE1 throughout the years when they brought happiness and entertainment to their fans from all over the world.
