The countdown to "School 2017" is on! The staff behind the upcoming youth drama is now in the process of looking for young actors and actresses to be part of the cast.
Based on the report by Star News, a representative from KBS announced on Mar. 20 that the auditions for the "School 2017" are currently underway. The network is looking for stars in their 20s who could join the series.
As early as now, netizens are suggesting stars who they think should be part of the cast. Some of the loud names are GOT7's Park Jin Young aka J.Y. Park, Kim Min Jae, and Lee Hyun Woo.
KBS confirmed that "School 2017" is in the works. According to Soompi, rookie writers will handle the script while Chief producer Lee Geon Joon joins producing director Park Jin Seok in the production.
Whoever wins in the open screenwriting competition at KBS will pen the script, Dramabeans reported. The seventh season of the franchise is gearing up for a summer broadcast in 2017. It is believed that "School 2017" will bring emphasis to "real stories about school."
The "School" series is known as a starting ground for many big stars of Korea. The first ever "School" series was introduced in 1999 and starred Jang Hyuk and Choi Kang Hee. The follow-up was known for featuring Ha Ji Won and Kim Rae Won.
"School 2013" starred Kim Woo Bin and Lee Jong Suk among others. The latest one, "Who Are You: School 2015," starred Kim So Hyun and Nam Joo Hyuk.
The "School" series focuses on the struggles and dilemmas of Korea's modern-day youth including bullying, real-life high school issues and school violence. There are stories of friendships and a love triangle. Aside from showing the struggles of students, it also showed how the teachers helped the students cope with their problems, manage the tough classes and face bullies.
