The king of "Gangnam Style" is back and is ready to school K-pop up and comers about ruling the charts. PSY recently dropped his eight studio album "4X2=8" and along with it came not one, but two star-studded music videos for "I Luv It" and "New Face."
According to a report by Billboard, the two tracks immediately to the Top 2 of the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart only hours after its release. The Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart measures the amount of traction an artist gets on Twitter by gauging the noise they generate on the social media platform.
Based on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart, PSY's "I Luv It" and "New Face" easily clinched the top 2 spots as soon as the songs were released on youtube and Apple music. The engagements were measured even without the songs being available on Spotify.
Meanwhile, All Kpop has reported that Psy's "I Luv It" has achieved an all-kill on all radio stations in Korea hours after release. Real-time charts of Melon, Bugs, Mnet, Olleh, Soribada, Genie, Naver, and Monkey3 had the new track at #1 with most of the charts featuring "New Face" at #2.
PSY's comeback, which comes at the heels of his highly successful "Psy-DA" a year and a half ago features tracks composed by the "Gangnam Style" singer and Zico. The new album also features hot new collaborations with top YG artists like BIG BANG's G-Dragon and Taeyang, iKON's B.I. and Bobby, "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" star Lee Sung Kyung as well as his "Gangnam Style" collaborators Tablo and producer Yu Gun Hyung, Kpopstarz reported.
Within hours of its release, the MVs for "I Luv It" and "New Face" have garnered a combined total of over 2 million views on youtube. The music video features PSY's good friend and Hollywood actor Lee Byung Hun and APINK's Son Naeun.
