KBS is reportedly getting ready to film the much awaited "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 but it may not feature the return of the beloved Song Song couple Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo. This was not the first time that the idea of a sequel without its original lead stars has been floated online but fans now believe that it has just become too difficult for the two superstars to film for the drama's sequel.
According to a report by All Kpop, it may be too hard for both Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo to block off the time for an extended filming of "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2. It was also reported that Song Joong Ki was considering taking a personal break from his work on his upcoming film "Battleship Island" making it more difficult to book a timeframe for filming this year.
"I'll spend the free personal time as fully as possible. I've always searched for my next project after finishing one," Song Joong Ki said in an interview. "That's why this year I want to rest a bit and spend time as the 30-year-old Song Joong Ki."
It was initially speculated that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will be returning for the "Descendants of the Sun" sequel because both actors have not yet committed to star in any upcoming Korean dramas. Fans believed that they were holding out for "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 which became a global hit last year.
KBS is reportedly is working with "Descendants of the Sun" co-writer Jung Sung Ho on developing the sequel to the hit franchise. He said that the team is currently leveling the ground to build a new story and iron out the details about pre-production to ensure that everything will go smoothly, Inquisitr reported.
