BLACKPINK and Rosé are the Only Female K-pop Artists in Hanteo Chart's Top 30 Highest First-Week Sales in History

BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" and Rosé's "R" are the only albums released by a female Korean act in the Top 30 for the highest first-week sales on the Hanteo Chart.

As of July 4, BLACKPINK's first full-length album has the highest first-week sales among the female K-pop albums, and Rosé's debut single album comes next.

BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" Holds the Highest First-Week Sales Record among Female K-pop Albums

BLACKPINK's first-ever full-length album, titled "THE ALBUM," was physically released on Oct. 6, 2020. At that time, the album attained outstanding sales on Hanteo Chart, setting new records for them and a K-pop girl group overall.

In just one day, BLACKPINK broke the highest first-week sales record after selling almost 590,000 copies of "THE ALBUM."

The previous record-holder is IZ*ONE's "Oneiric Diary" with 389,334 copies sold in its first seven days.

"THE ALBUM" also currently holds BLACKPINK's highest first-day sales, beating "How You Like That," which sold 155,844 copies on June 26, 2020.

In terms of first-week sales, BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" sold a total of 689,066 copies on the Hanteo Chart.

Based on the Top 30 list of highest first-week sales on the Hanteo Chart as of July 4, BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" sits at No. 16, becoming the only K-pop girl group inside the Top 20.

The quartet's full-length album is only approximately 12,000 copies less than SEVENTEEN's "An Ode," which recorded 700,863 copies and took the No. 15 spot on the list.

Previously, BLACKPINK earned the title of the first K-pop girl group to become a million-seller with "THE ALBUM." As of Oct. 26 last year, a total of 1,209,543 copies has been sold in South Korea, the United States, and Europe.

"THE ALBUM" even reached the highest ranking of any female Korean act on Billboard 200 in history. It debuted at No. 2 on the US chart.

BLACKPINK Rosé's "R" Has the Second-Highest First-Week Sales among Female K-pop Albums

On March 16, the physical album of Rosé's "R" was released and quickly broke the record of first-week sales for a female soloist.

BLACKPINK Rosé's "R" reached 282,674 copies in only one day, surpassing IU's record of 147,856 copies of "Love Poem," which were sold in its first week.

On March 23, Rosé's debut single album achieved 448,089 copies in its official first week of sales.

As of July 4, BLACKPINK Rosé's "R" claimed the No. 25 spot on the Top 30 list of highest first-week sales on the Hanteo Chart.

This makes Rosé the only female solo artist on the list and the fourth Korean soloist overall, with the others being EXO Baekhyun, Kim Ho Joong, and Kang Daniel.

Based on the list, BLACKPINK Rosé's debut single album "R" holds the fourth-highest first-week sales among Korean soloists on the Hanteo Chart in history.

Among the K-pop group albums, BTS's "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7" has the highest first-week sales record of all time. It sold a total of 3,378,633 copies.

Among the Korean soloists, EXO Baekhyun's "Bambi" has the highest sales in the first week. It recorded 868,840 copies.
