LE SSERAFIM Draws Mixed Reception for Playing Recorder in Encore Stage

Following their third win, LE SSERAFIM's encore stage on "Music Bank" started trending on social media and several South Korean online community forums.

This is because, on top of singing their song, the girls played the recorder to celebrate their win.

Though FEARNOTs saw this as a cute and fun way to celebrate their win, many were not impressed and slammed the girl group for their choice.

Previously, for their second win (which they received on February 29 on "M Countdown), LE SSERAFIM received backlash for their unstable and shaky voices during their encore stage. With people criticizing the group for being unable to sing live, many were expecting the girl group to prove the haters wrong and sing during their next encore stage.

However, since they opted to play the recorder for their stage, people believe the girls are resorting to such "gimmicks" to avoid singing live during their encore stage. Many were disappointed at the choice, saying they should have simply sang instead. Others stated the stage was bad because the girls did not know how to play the recorder well.

Despite the backlash, many still defended the girl group. It was noted that they also sang when they chose not to play the recorder, and that the times they did sing, they sounded good. People believe the girls are being unfairly criticized and that they do not deserve all the hate.

Some comments read,

  • "So they are resorting to gimmicks like this because they can't sing..."
  • "If you're going to play the recorder, at least practice how to do it."
  • "I was wondering how they would sing today, but here they are playing the recorder."
  • "But they are still singing the song... Why are people so angry?"
  • "I only clicked because I wanted to see how bad they were."
  • "Wow. It's not like they didn't sing at all, so why are the comments mocking them so much?"
  • "Don't they get too much unnecessary hate?"
